Color Trends Dominating 2019
The meeting planner’s guide to popular hues for the coming year
Another colorful year down, another one ahead. Wondering what color schemes to use in your meeting themes? Here are the hues poised to make a design splash in 2019:
Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2019 is Living Coral, a warm shade that emphasizes comfort. “In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy,” Pantone said in a statement about the color’s announcement. “Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, Pantone Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.”
If 2018 was the year of neutrals, 2019 is anything but. Electric tones, such as bright yellow and lime green, bring an optimistic and playful statement to any meeting design.
Sherwin Williams’ 2019 color of the year is Cavern Clay, a shade of terra cotta. The earthy hue cultivates a modern-yet-Southwestern feel that inspires a sense of warmth and welcoming.
Add a pop of color in a rich jewel tone to make elements in an otherwise neutral palette stand out. Try a deep-hued—think sapphires, rubies and emeralds—accent in your décor, such as a colored tablecloth.
For color palettes that need to be colorful yet understated, opt for softer shades, such as a mellow yellow, dusty rose or faded blue.
