Cozy Up for Your Next Fall Meeting

Four fabulous fall décor trends to make your event seasonally perfect

Autumn is nearly upon us, and with it, changing leaves, cozy cashmere and pumpkin spice lattes. Before sweater season hits, let’s dive into seasonal design trends to incorporate in your fall meetings.

Play Up Vintage

There’s nothing quite like spending a crisp, fall day antiquing. To evoke the feeling of yesteryear, use vintage food tins and vases and fill them full of fiery florals. Not sure which flowers to use? Chrysanthemums, pansies, celosias and black-eyed Susans are all in season.

Nonfloral Centerpieces

Looking beyond floral centerpieces? Assemble gourds, pumpkins and decorative corn for a unique harvesting vibe. Another gorgeous, seasonal and edible tabletop option: pomegranates. Add some pine cones and cinnamon sticks to complete the look.

Bold Hues

Among the top colors for this autumn are Chili Pepper (a spicy red); Rocky Road (an earthy brown); and Eden (a forest green)—all hues that “suggest a thirst for liberation and a desire to realize our own individualized unique identities,” according to the Pantone Color Institute. With its 2019/2020 fall and winter lineup in mind, incorporate centerpieces, candles and table runners that elicit these fearless hues.

Statement Plaids

Plaid is back in a big way, according to Vogue. To pay homage to fall’s coziest pattern, use plaid accent pieces, such as table runners, napkins or even a piece of statement furniture. And remember, it’s not tartan or bust. If colorful, crisscrossed horizontal and vertical bands aren’t cutting it for you, consider the buffalo check plaid—a quieter, often more versatile, plaid.
